The brief

Northreach is a UK recruitment agency placing talent into start-ups and growing companies across life sciences, fintech, embedded engineering and financial services. They needed more than a brochure site: a custom-built WordPress presence that could run an active job board, publish a steady stream of editorial and video content, and convert both candidates and hiring companies. We designed and built the theme from scratch around those jobs.

What we did

  • Designed and developed a bespoke WordPress theme across the full site, not an off-the-shelf template.
  • Built a job board on WP Job Manager with filtering by location, salary, job type and industry, plus an admin-friendly way to add new categories.
  • Created a content hub that brings podcasts, video and blog posts together under one navigable structure.
  • Fixed email deliverability so job applications land in the inbox instead of junk.
  • Added category dropdown navigation between job and content sections, and tuned site speed and on-page SEO.

How we built it

The build is a custom theme in PHP with JavaScript enhancements, structured so the recruitment team can run day to day without a developer. WP Job Manager powers the vacancy search; we extended it with the filters Northreach's candidates actually use (location, salary band, job type and industry) and made categories editable from the admin so new specialisms can be added without code. The content hub is modelled so podcasts, videos and articles share one taxonomy and surface together in navigation. Application email was the quiet failure point on the old setup, so we reconfigured sending and authentication to stop applications being filed as spam, which directly protects candidate flow.

Because the recruitment team adds vacancies and content daily, the priority throughout was editor independence: every job filter, category and content section is managed from the WordPress admin, with no developer in the loop.
